The Modesto Certified Farmers Market is where the locals go for fresh produce, delicious food, and unique artisan goods. In one convenient downtown location, you can support local farmers and take home healthy, nutritious vegetables and fruit.
Celebrating over 45 years!
The Modesto Certified Farmers Market began in 1979 from humble beginnings. Ron Alves and Ray Rodgers, instructors at Modesto Junior College Agriculture Department and then Mayor Peggy Mensinger brought fresh produce direct to the community long before “Buy Fresh, Buy Local” became a well-known phrase. Over 45 years later, we are still here with the same purpose: to bring the farmer and the consumer together, cutting out the middle-man and allowing for the freshest possible goods to go from farm to table.
MCFM also prides itself on giving back to the community we call home. Every month we host family activities, such as kid’s crafts, giveaways, raffles, or special holiday events at the market. The activities we host are always completely free because it is our belief that the farmers market is for everyone.
