Well, sadly the 2018 season has come and gone. But don’t worry, we will be back before you know it! Our 2019 season opening date is set for March 14th, 2019. That’s less than 3 months away and we know the time will just fly by.
We have gotten a lot of questions about whether we would ever consider going year-round. This is something brought up to the manager and Board of Directors every year, but it is not something we as a market find feasible for us. While we sincerely appreciate the enthusiasm and support, as a market, we just don’t feel like we would have enough variety and vendors selling to make it worth it for customers during the months of January and February.
While we love selling hot food and artisan crafts, it is very important to us to stay a farmers market and have fresh agricultural goods available to the community. Unfortunately, staying open any later would mean we wouldn’t have much (if any) of those goods available during that time. Most vendors, especially farmers, need a few months to take a breather, prep, and get started for next year. We truly love that so many wish we would stay all year, and it is something we will never take off the table for the future, but for now it is not what is best for our particular market.
Thank you for shopping with us and supporting us this season, and every season for the past 40 years. We cannot wait to share with you all of the new and returning vendors on our 2019 roster, as well as the fun events we have planned. To keep up with us during the off season and into 2019, please check out our Facebook (Modesto Certified Farmers Market or @modestofarmersmarket) and our Instagram (@modestofarmersmarket).
Have a great holiday season and we will see you next year!
